Ok ok, I'll admit. When I first heard we had to make a podcast as one of our big assignments, I wasn't exactly thrilled. It's not that I'm anti-technology, it's just podcasts were pretty foreign to me, and considering that I'm a very visual learner, didn't think they would benefit me.
Mary Leach and I did our book review podcast on The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. Let me just tell you, becoming acquainted with talking to a computer is a bit weird. Overall though, I think it was a pretty cool experience. It wasn't nearly as difficult as I imagined, and I appreciate the assignment because otherwise I'd probably never dabble in podcasting. I think it could be a great tool to use with students in my classroom, especially to show their understanding of a novel in a creative way.

  1. That's wonderful that you had such a positive experience. That is exactly why I require you to make one. What I am really trying to do is to give you the opportunity to make something that we read about. It's one thing to read about a technology, but I'll bet you agree it's another to actually experience it.

And keep in mind, even if students don't make podcasts...there are plenty of them out there to listen to. I know I would like to incorporate them as a text in my own teaching.

Nice job and I look forward to hearing your podcast.

  2. Due to my laptop breaking, I have not been able to do my podcast yet. However, I love seeing everyone's response to this project. I was definitly weary on hearing myself talk but now I'm excited to see my final project after seeing everyone elses experiences. I think this is definitly an assignment I'll do in my classes as well.
