Today I stumbled upon this really awesome photography series by Dinah Fried. Each photo is a representation through food of a famous novel. I loved it, so I thought I'd share it with all of you!

  1. That is a very clever site! You know how much I love allowing students the opportunity to express themselves in a variety of modes, but wow...never thought of food as a mode! Cool!

  2. I have to agree with TO, I had NEVER thought of using food (and place setting) as a mode. This is something that kids could fairly easily do, even if they just drew or used pictures from the internet.

It could be an interesting project to assign. Kids love food days, so you could even set the requirements as simple as "must be edible." The kids would get to be creative, they learn about symbolism, they pick out details from the stories, and you all get to eat at the end of the day. Basically, everybody wins!
